All appointments will expire at the end of the year unless these forms are filled out. To date, we have had many people who have filed their renewals. The online forms can be found at: http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/ares.html. Reminder: All ARRL ARES Appointees are required to have current ARRL membership. Minimum required ARES Training: KYARES Online Tests, FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800. District 1: District 2: District 3: KG4HEV reports initial ARES planning meeting with group to discuss direction of ARES program for community. Weather Spotter activation on January 29, 2008. Wind damage to Ellis Park and a farm to the immediate west. District 4: W4BGN reports amateur radio operators in the fourth district were out spotting severe weather as it approached. Normal amateur repeater communications failed in 1 county in the district and traffic was handled on emergency simplex frequencies. District 5: W8WN gives us the following: AI4VF & W8WN (&, limited because of recent surgery, WD8LPN), working with Red Cross for damage assessment, etc. Amateur Radio used some to supplement cell phones, as 47 MHz not available. (Also on standby for a while, as once again there were problems at Dispatch when the squall line went thru. Wide-spread power outage for about 8 hours). District 6: KF4VCC wanted us to know WX4NWS was activated to collect ground observations from Skywarn nets as well as from individual spotters. District 7: District 8: District 9: KB9ORD reports an emergency net was called into session on 01-22-2008 for Skywarn and highway conditions after icing of roads occurred. A public service event providing communications during a funeral possession for public safety officials was also performed. WA4SWF states Lawrence County is now doing a lot of rebuilding since the Jan. 19, 2008 meeting in Ashland. This meeting with ARES groups and SM, ASM, SEC, EC's, AEC's, plus many others. This has given us a new way of looking at what we want to archive in the operations of our county ARES system. Our first step has been done in doing away with the Lawrence County ARES 2 meter net and combining our county ARES members into checking into a repeater linked ARES Net with other counties conducted by Ralph Tuley KB9ORD. I think that this has made for a better understanding of putting our resources together and making for a better ARES Program for all of District #9. Speaking with Jim KY-SEC gave us many ideas as to what we need to get done as soon as possible. Support from Jim KY-SM and Matt KY-ASM was very pleasing to hear. We will be directing more info to Scotty our DEC in setting up our planning. District 10: District 11: District 12: District 13: District 14: _______________________________________________________________ PSHR: KG4TND 290, W2LTB 432, K4JRU 638, KD4SN 98 ______________________________________________________________ Note: The reporting section of KYHAM is functional. Please submit all monthly reports there. EC reports will go to their respective DECs for totalling. Areas with no DEC will still come to me. This will make reporting and accountability more streamlined. http://www.kyham.net/emcomm/reports.html. Reports are due to your respective DECs by the 5th of the month. DECs need to have their reports to me by the 10th of the month. Please fill out the reports completely so they do not get returned for correction. Reminder that ARES appointees (OES, EC, DECs) need to file a monthly report so we can track activities. _________________________________________________________________ NOTE: Welcome to Patrick Spencer KD4PWL as our new Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator.
